Leendert van der Meer: Retouches (2015-)

My neighbour had an ironic attitude towards my profession; he doubted the relevance of it. This frustrated me and gave me the urge to reveal the importance of it. Therefore I started applying the photographic medium to his profession: concierge. In doing so, I became a ‘photographic handyman’ who uses the camera as his tool.

Retouches is a series containing photographic interventions. By ‘installing’ printed images in the public domain I refurbish objects. In this process, photography not only serves as a tool; it also becomes a substitute for reality.

Marc Buchy: Fiducia (2015)

If the exhibition takes place in an organisation selling objects, drinks or whatever, bended coins have to be put in the cash register and used as normal money. Even if modifed, coins get back into their flow and classical use.

At Platforms Project in Athens: All three of us had a modified coin in a pocket and showed it to many people around.
Finally one spent it at the bar, one sold it as an art-object (doubled the value) and one just gave it away.

MishMash: #Undestroyable (2017)

This is not about fashion or design, but an art protest and a flash mob.
The Russian Parliament (Duma) is going to pass a new federal law “On Renovation”, that people call “On Deportation”. The bill contradicts the 35th article of the Russian Constitution about the Right of Private Property and basically repeals the Constitution of 1993.

According to the bill any house may be pronounced decrepit by the Moscow city authorities and transferred to the domain of the newly formed Renovation Department. From that moment people’s rights of Private Property on homes and apartments no longer apply. Owners and residents have to move out from their homes in 60 days after the notification and into locations provided by the Department. The bill does not leave owners and residents any options, such as choosing the new location, receiving financial compensation for the housing or investments made into homes.

This project encourages anyone to photograph their homes and print them on the shirts. An artistic expression for the present-day urban camouflage. No political slogans, as they can be punishable in today’s Russia, just – wear your houses. We are #undestroyable !

Stefan Klein: Sunflower Seeds (2016)

A bag with the shells of sunflower seeds that were secretly chewed by
Stefan Klein at the opening of Ai Wei Wei’s exhibition at the Tate Gallery
in 2010 smuggeled in the Berlin Biennale and secretly presented in
the palm of the museum guard during the opening hours.

Sasha Kurmaz: The Study of Public Attention (2016)

I was walking through Stadtpark in Graz, and met a lot of sculptures of famous Austrian cultural figures. I decided to replace two sculptures and observe the reaction of the citizens.
During the month, the sculptures were on different pedestals and no one noticed the substitution.
